Committees

Agri-Business Committee

  • Meets the third Tuesday of each month except June, July and August at 7:30 a.m.
  • Investigates problem areas and opportunities for area farmers.
  • Establishes regular contact with agricultural-oriented organizations.
  • Develops programs which will be of mutual interest
     to the agricultural community.
  • Promotes understanding of the impact of agriculture, forestry and supporting industries on the the Eastern Shore economy.

Ambassadors Committee

  • Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at Denny's.
  • Supports the Membership Committee.
  • Responsible for retention of members by welcoming and assimilating new members.
  • Functions as greeters and hosts at Chamber events.

Architects, Engineers & Surveyors Task Force (Meets as needed)

  • Currently holding quarterly meetings with the Salisbury Public Works Director.

Beautification Committee

  • Meets the first Thursday of each month at noon.
  • Establishes goals and implements programs designed to enhance the physical beauty of our community.
  • Manages landscaping projects.

Budget & Finance Committee

  • Meets bimonthly on the third Tuesday at noon.
  • Responsible for monitoring monthly financial and budget reports.
  • Conducts the annual audit.
  • Continually reviews the Chamber's financial operation and position.
  • Investments Sub-Committee monitors the Chamber's investment portfolio.

Business Affairs Committee

  • Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m.
  • Develops programs of special interest to the business community.
  • Concentrates on improving the business climate within our area.
  • Advocates for business community on key issues.

Eastern Shore Business Leadership Network

  • Advisory Board and interested members meet three times per year.

  • Promotes the benefits of recruiting, hiring, employing, retaining and promoting people with disabilities in the workforce through trainings and the media.

  • Assists business and the community as an employment resource concerning people with disabilities.

  • Assists members in finding qualified employees through its network of disability related agencies.

  • Presents the annual ESBLN “Putting Ability to Work” Award.

Eldercare Committee

  • Meets the Third Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at Genesis.
  • Monitors trends in the senior citizen support industry.
  • Works with other agencies supporting the elder community.

Local Legislative Committee

  • Meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at Wor-Wic Community College.
  • Advises the Chamber leadership on local governmental issues.
  • Monitor the activities of the City and County Councils.
  • Maintains a continuing overview of all city and county activities.
  • Invites various department heads and other speakers monthly.

Membership Committee

  • Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m.
  • Recruits members
  • Develops retention programs and incentives.
  • Schedules new member orientations and training programs.

National Legislative E-committee

  • Focuses on national issues via e-mail.
  • Focuses attention on state and national legislation affecting our area
  • Recommends policy positions to the Board.
  • Conveys Chamber positions to our elected officials and to the Maryland and U. S. Chamber of Commerce.

Recycling Committee

  • Meets the Fourth Thursday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at Common Ground. (On hiatus beginning October 2011 until January 2012).
  • Educates the membership and public about the positive impact and value of recycling.
  • Monitors other environmental activities and trends for the Chamber leadership and members.
  • Plans green educational and recycling events.

Salisbury Festival Committee

  • Meets between November and May with the frequency of meetings increasing during the months of March and April.
  • Responsible for the coordinating, planning and implementation of festival events.
  • The festival is held the end of April.

State Legislative Committee

  • Meets during the General Assembly in January to April.
  • Focuses on proposed state legislation affecting our area.
  • Recommends policy positions to the Board.
  • Conveys chamber positions to elected officials.
  • Coordinates with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and other interested groups.

Public Relations and Marketing Committee

  • Meets at the Chamber of Commerce on the fourth Thursday at 12:00 PM.
  • Intern education of committee members on the latest in public relations & marketing.
  • Conducts PR-ER's, a brainstorming forum to review a business' marketing and suggest improvements.
  • Act as the marketing group for the Chamber on issues and for events.

Technology Committee

  • Meets the second Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the Chamber.
  • Monitors business related technology trends.
  • Aids member companies in the IT business get their message out.
  • Informs members of IT issues.

Workforce Development Committee
(formerly named the Education Committee)

  • Meets the second Monday of each month at noon in the Chamber.
  • Manages the annual Chamber Potential for Success high schools scholarships.
  • Assists educational institutions and workforce development agencies on the Lower Shore.

Young Professionals Committee

  • Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 a.m. in Chamber Business Center.
  • Committed to the growth and development of local young professionals between 21 and 39.
  • Facilitates annual Career Day for all ninth graders in Wicomico County public schools.
  • Supports and promotes local young professionals by providing:
    • Networking opportunities
    • Community Outreach opportunities
