Wicomico County
Wicomico County has a population approaching 85,000. The County covers 414 square miles centrally located on the Delmarva Peninsula. It was founded in 1867. The County is governed under a home rule form of government with an administrative director and a seven person elected council. Municipal Governments
Delmar has a population of approximately 2,500 spread across two states. The town straddles the Delaware and Maryland state line at US Highway 13. The Town of Delmar was incorporated in 1888.
Fruitland has a population of nearly 3,800 and is located south of Salisbury on US Highway 13 Business. The City of Fruitland was incorporated in 1947, cityoffruitland.com/. Fruitland Chamber of Commerce meets on the third Wednesday of the month at Adam's Ribs. The President is Peter Roskovich at 410-749-6961, or www.fruitlandchamber.com
Hebron has a population of approximately 800 and is located on Maryland Highway 347 and 670, southwest of US Highway 50.
Mardela Springs has a population of approximately 350 and is located on the western side of Wicomico County, off of US Highway 50.
Pittsville has a population of nearly 1,200 and is located in eastern Wicomico County, at the intersection of Maryland Highways 346 and 353, just north of US Highway 50. The Town of Pittsville was incorporated in 1945.
Salisbury has a population of nearly 24,000 and is located in the center of Wicomico County on the Wicomico River and the intersection of US Highways 13 and 50. The city was founded in 1732. www.ci.salisbury.md.us/
Sharptown has a population of approximately 650 and is located in the northwest corner of Wicomico County, on the Nanticoke River and Maryland Highways 313 and 348. The Town of Sharptown was incorporated in 1888.
Whitehaven is an unincorporated community located in southwest Wicomico County. Maryland Highway 353 crosses the Wicomico River via the Whitehaven Ferry. The village was chartered in 1685.
