Shopping
Salisbury is the commercial "hub" of Delmarva.
A
wide range of stores and shops offer an assortment of goods and
products.
Residents from nearby Delaware and Virginia find
Salisbury a convenient place to shop.
A revitalized downtown Salisbury with its
centrally located City Center is home for many specialty shops
including jewelry and antique stores, restaurants and cafes and
commercial businesses.
A regional shopping center, The Centre at
Salisbury, offers shoppers five major stores plus more than 100
other shops, all located in a modern atmosphere and protected by a
new, state-of-the-art security system.
North of town, the addition of a
Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Lowe's, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar,
Bob Evans Restaurant and many other stores and restaurants, has
made a marked difference in shopping trends.
East, along U.S. Route 50, the Ames
shopping center complex is now the nucleus of a multitude of stores
and eateries that extend out to the Wor-Wic Community College
campus. The Twilley Center anchors the Mount Hermon Road
shopping district.
The south side growth can be seen with
the addition of a number of strip malls and independent businesses
heading toward and into Fruitland. The recent addition of
several chain stores in Fruitland, including a new Wal-Mart
Supercenter, and many businesses which cater to the Salisbury
State University students and staff has had a positive impact on
this area.
With the extension of water and sewer from the
city in all directions, new business continues to sprout in all
directions of Delmarva's shopping "hub."
